The green of the avocado is very Mexican because this country is the main supplier of avocado in the whole world.
Out of all the exports of avocado at the international level, Mexico contributes 46 percent of them, which makes it the main producer and supplier of avocado for the citizens of the world.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) in Mexico, avocado exports will increase in the coming years, going from 1.02 million tons per year, to an estimate of 1.17 million tons at the close of 2018. Even, the Mexican authorities foresee that in the next 10 years an export of 2.14 million tons of the green fruit will be reached.
And is that as domestic consumption increases, in other countries are also eager to taste the Mexican avocado. The figures reveal that world imports of this fruit have increased 172 percent in the last decade, so that more and more countries demand Mexico this fruit.
The United States is the main consumer of Mexican avocados, around 791 thousand tons are exported to that country, followed by Japan with 69 thousand tons, Canada with 66 thousand tons, Spain with 17 thousand, France 16 thousand, Netherlands another 16 thousand and China 10 thousand tons per year, to mention the main.
Data of SAGARPA reveal that Mexican avocado exports represent 54.1 percent of the total availability of this green fruit in Mexico.
In 2030 an increase in global demand for avocado is estimated at 2 million 840 thousand tons per year, to 4 million 240 thousand tons per year, according to estimations of Mexican and international authorities.
For the Mexican part, it is estimated that the national production of avocado has the capacity to increase from 1.89 million tons to 4.24 million tons per year by 2030.
